Help Melody Find Her Music!

STOP PRESS: Thanks for donations during the matching period. Now let us push through the target! And don't forget to reserve seats for the show at www.melodymissingmusic.org

Queens based charity The Forest Hills Choir needs your help to raise at least $5,000 for our first ever commissioned work, "Melody and the Missing Music ."   David Ezra Stein  and Sunny Knable have created this charming and  imaginative work to be easily staged at schools, to offer much-needed enjoyment to kids and their families and a chance for a new generation to develop a passion for performing.

Here is a video where you can hear short rehearsal excerpts from Melody and listen to the creators and some choir members talking about how this exciting project came about.

With its world première on March 27, 2022 in Forest Hills, Queens, NY, under musical director, Ben Arendsen, we are proud to present this heartwarming story and brilliant musical composition, brought to life by professional performers, adult and youth choirs and an entire grade school class!

How Your Donation will have Impact

-$1500 for a fairer reward to our creators for their many hours of hard work. Your donation can help us to do our part to ensure a strong pipeline of creative art, so important for a healthy society.

-$1500 for the première of "Melody." Staging involves professional fees, printing of scores, costumes and props, recording and much more. Your donation will help to offset some of those costs and contribute to the Parent Teacher Association fund of our partner school.

-$2000 to spread the "Melody" joy. Melody can be performed almost anywhere, and our cast hopes to bring this show to schools and other venues in Queens. Performances cost money, and we aspire to include schools with limited financial resources, where the children have the most to gain.

Should we be fortunate enough to raise more than $5000, be assured your donation will be put to good use. In common with many groups, our choir's finances have suffered during the pandemic, and donations will help us more quickly restore our ambitious programming so we can support deserving local artists.

More about "Melody and the Missing Music"

Melody is a composer who writes her best music while wandering the Queens Botanical Gardens among the animals there. One day she comes home to her apartment and her playful cat Krumholz. Melody is about to save her latest and greatest masterpiece on her computer when – well, anybody with a cat can guess what happens next. Disaster is averted when the animals in the park, imitated by the children in the production and in the audience, help Melody to recall her songs.
