Melly the Fighter

Melody Spurgeon, our beautiful baby girl, was diagnosed in August of 2019 with hydrocephalus and a mass of polycystic astrocytoma tumors and cysts in the cerebellum of the brain. She had surgery 2 times last year to get as much of the tumors and cysts out as they could with out doing major damage. She also had a shunt placed as a result of the hydrocephalus. Due to the surgeries, she began having eating issues so they placed in a feeding tube. Over the last 9 months, she has been going in for monthly MRI's with the tumors growing slowly so the doctors decided to watch and see. This last MRI in June of 2020 showed Melody’s tumors and cysts have grown larger and at a faster rate. The doctors have decided to go back in on July 8th to remove her tumors and cysts and place in a porta catheter for chemotherapy. This whole ordeal has completely turned our life upside down as we struggle to get her the best care possible and see to her ever growing list of needs. During this difficult time, any help to ease the growing financial burden of this all would be greatly appreciated as the number of supplies, care, therapies, and specialists that she needs is only growing larger.
