Melksham Christmas lights is a group run entirely by volunteers which aims to provide the best possible Festive display each year for Melksham residents and of course the many visitors from out of town.
As ever since it all began, nobody is paid in any way, and every penny goes towards the lights.
Historically we have been well supported by the Town Council, local businesses, sponsors, public donations, and our own fundraising events such as the Melksham Fireworks. This year is of course very different, with no fundraising events at all we are reliant solely on a grant from Melksham Town Council.
Our funds pay for everything, from the electricity, new lighting, insurances, equipment hire and lots of other little things that all add up to, well, quite a lot!
It would be unreasonable to be asking local shops to help us by making their usual donations, its impossible to run our events, and we cant attend other peoples with our usual fundraising schemes...
So, we hope that peoples generosity may help us out, we have some pretty amazing plans for this year that will involve a much more immersive display in the market place aimed at the younger ones, taking what we do to an entirely new level that we know will be incredibly popular ( well, aside from the 1 annual whinger! ) and aimed ultimately at making the year go out on a high after so many lows.
Works underway, and we are making the most of the downtime from our pro-volunteers to design and make possible some brilliant ideas.
Times are hard, we appreciate that now is a bad time to be asking anyone for money, but tiny amounts can add up and help us make this year the very best ever and as ever we really appreciate the incredible support from everyone that loves what we do each year.
