<div>The news of Melissa's diagnosis came as a shock to all of us. Oral cancer is a challenging and aggressive form of cancer that requires immediate and intensive treatment. The road ahead is daunting, with numerous medical appointments, surgeries, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. The emotional and physical toll is immense, but Melissa's unwavering spirit remains strong.

<div>As a single person running a small business, Melissa was one of those people who lived life uninsured. She was able to get health insurance coverage on January 1 but had numerous out of pocket expenses leading up to her diagnosis. Even now having health insurance, the costs are still staggering. The insurance coverage, while helpful, falls short in covering all the expenses. The co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs for the treatments, medications, and essential care are exorbitant and adding up quickly. Additionally, Melissa needs $30,000 for dental implants as she is losing all her upper teeth due to the cancer and its treatments. As a single woman running her own business, Melissa's resources are limited, and the mounting medical bills are creating an additional layer of stress. This is where we can make a difference.
