BENEFITING: Padre Ramos Women’s Collective
The Story:
As many of you know, my 40th birthday is coming up on June 26th. After thinking about the ways in which I could celebrate, I thought of something a bit more non-traditional. Instead of having a big party, I’d like to encourage friends and family to contribute to the Padre Ramos Women’s Collective. This is my birthday wish!
Recently, I joined Hayley Hines of Soul Sparkle, Inc. and joined a Soul Sparkle Seva journey, where I spent a week in Nicaragua, supporting the Padre Ramos Women's Collective of local women, who are literally rebuilding their lives. During this service retreat, I assisted in educating the women and their children on how to love themselves deeply, to become self-sufficient and empower themselves to create a life that makes them both happy and proud. Since many of these women and children are abandoned and/or abused, this type of education is imperative. I am still passionately active with Soul Sparkle's efforts in raising money to help build homes and restore a farm that will provide sustainable income for the women and their children. While I was there, I was able to connect with these women and children. As expected, it was an absolutely amazing, inspiring experience. Saying goodbye to the women and children on our last day with them was hard. As we were hugging (and crying), I knew this wouldn’t be the end for me. These women and children hold a special place in my heart and I want to continue to be a part of this project, helping these amazing women and children.
Hayley Hines, of Soul Sparkle, was back in Nicaragua in May and shared that the first two of the ten homes to be built have been completed!!! The goal is to raise $100,000 by Christmas this year, having all ten women in their very own homes! After all of the homes are built, a water purification project will begin.
Soul Sparkle is dedicated to helping out, giving, educating the women on how to better their lives, how to make items they can sell to be able to support themselves and their children.
It is so inspiring to be a part of and to see different groups passionately working together supporting an incredible cause!! It really does take a village!
It would be a magical birthday gift to be able to give to this project that I hold so close to my heart.
