Melissa Hazelton Fire Damage

In the early morning hours of January 6, a fire broke out in the garage of NJ American Water employee Melissa Hazelton. Melissa has been a dedicated employee with the company since 2010 working with the engineering group.  Luckily her family (wife and three kids) and pets are all safe.

This page is dedicated to raising some money to help Melissa and her family with their temporary accomodations and piecing their home back together.  While it won't replace the precious keepsakes that they have lost, it should help ease some of the burden during this tough time. Every little bit helps.

"Let me start off with everyone including the animals are safe.

At 2:15 am my neighbor (an angel!) frantically knocked on my door. Our garage was fully engulfed in flames. With his help I was able to get Everly and the animals out of the house. Lauren was working, Jae and Brianna were not home. We are staying at my mother-in-law’s house with the kids and dogs. Our concern now is that the pipes in the house do not burst. We lost everything in the garage & attic (a lot of pictures, memories, tools, etc.) and the back room and laundry room we just finished is destroyed, but we are together, warm and safe. Just keep us in your thoughts and prayers."

"We are extremely grateful that no one was hurt and we were able to also save our animals. Sadly, we will be unable to live in our house for quite some time until they can repair the damages and get the electricity up and running. We will be looking for a short-term rental in the area where we live now. "
