HURRICANE HARVEY. Melissa is one of those poeple who helps others and does what is needed. It is hard for her to be in this position. She has three children -Wyatt who is 6, AJ who is 10, and Riley who is about to be 16. Her children are amazing, the reflection of thier souls and of the parenting by Alex ,her ex and she. Both got flooded in the hurricane. Her apartment -to the top of the kitchen counter. Everythingwas lost with water sitting for days. Refrigerator on its side full of gross water and rotting food. She is an amazing special ed teacher who will go back to work soon.
Her car for work and to take the kids to school is totalled.
The funds will help them begin again, they need a new 3 bedroom aprtment ( theirs was condemned and will be torn down in 6 days) . The electricity turned off while we were getting them packed with whatever was salvagable , their clothes mostly.
They needs beds for melissa and riley, bunk beds for the boys , dresser drawers for 4, bedroom lamps , and all the linens and pillows for all four. They need a living room set, tv, computers, cords, curtains and rods, dvd player, side tables, etc and you name it (draw a line of water 3-4 feet deep in your house and you have the picture). everything that plugs in was ruined .
They need shoes for all, backpacks,guitars, bikes ,out door sitting chairs, cooking pans, mixing bowl, dishes, bath towels , all bath articles, art supplies, childrens books, toys,christmas decorations, groceries , gas money (as they evacuated far to a dear friend), down payment on a new apartment, a car that will take them to school, and and you you name it for probably a year.
They need everything and would so appreciate any help you can give. As you can imagine, it is devastating. They are blessed to have thier lives and grateful for this good blessing and their dog trooper( who also needs everything).
