Hi, my name is Laura Bailey and I’m starting this fundraiser to help my daughter in law, Melissa Bailey, and her family during this incredibly difficult health crisis
Melissa’s Medicaid program comes with a share of cost over $2,700 before coverage begins. With treatments already underway and more testing scheduled, the expenses are overwhelming.
Melissa has been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, which has already spread to at least one lymph node. She began chemo and hormone blocker treatments in mid-September, and upcoming PET scans and bone density tests will show how far the cancer has progressed. The full story of her diagnosis is still unfolding, and she is also facing other health complications that make this battle even harder.
Melissa is a full-time mom to her 3-year-old son, Zion. She pours her love and energy into caring for him, but treatments make daily life much harder, and she will need help with childcare so she can focus on healing. Melissa is also mom to her older son, Ezra (11 years old). While Ezra doesn’t live with her full-time, he is used to spending lots of quality time with his mom, and this diagnosis deeply affects him as well.
Her husband, Jimmy, is the only provider for the household. He works six days a week to keep things afloat, but they simply cannot afford medical emergencies—or even one missed day of work.
They were door dashing for extra cash but that has become very difficult now with treatments started.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Your donations will help with:
✔️Covering cancer treatments, prescriptions, and testing
✔️Providing childcare for Zion during Melissa’s treatments
✔️Supporting Ezra in maintaining strong time and connection with his mom
✔️Helping with food and basic needs for the family
✔️Making up for lost income when emergencies happen
✔️Relieving financial stress so Melissa can focus on healing
How You Can Help
If you are able, please consider donating. No amount is too small—it all adds up and means so much. If you can’t give financially, sharing this page with others is also a huge help.
Together, we can ease some of the burden and let Melissa and Jimmy focus on what matters most: her fight against cancer and caring for thier children, Ezra and Zion.
Melissa’s strength and love for her boys are what keep her pushing forward. With the support of family, friends, and community, she won’t have to fight this battle alone.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
