Melisa's Medical Fund

Donation protected
It's been a long battle for Melisa. After fighting through viral meningitis in December 2016, then contracting bacterial meningitis in August 2017 (nearly dying on several occasions, coma, on life-support, brain bleeding, stroke, spending many weeks in ICU fighting for her life), 6 weeks in Cottage Rehab in Santa Barbara (learning how to live and function again), brain surgery in January 2018 to remove the membrane off her brain, suffering a stroke during surgery and further bleeding in her brain followed by seizures and return trips to the ER, the family is back at Cottage Rehab, fighting again alongside her.
The woman, the mom, the Mimi that they once knew is no longer inside. Melisa's family continues to pray and fight for that miracle that only God can provide, growing tired, trying to make sense of what their new-normal will be.
Melisa grows physically stronger each day, however the subsequent strokes, brain bleeding (which still is going on), and seizures have caused significant damage in the frontal lobe of her brain. She no longer starts converstaions or engages in them. She is quiet, seemingingly a shell of the mom/Mimi that once was.
Melisa's family is weary, and tired... Not knowing what the future holds and taking it one day at a time. When Melisa is able to return home from Cottage she will need 24-hour care. To see someone that was so full of life, witty, talkative, become so disengaged has been beyond painful and the family is grieving... praying for a miracle... for restoration and healing as her body continues to fight this battle.

If you're able, please consider taking a moment to contribute to Melisa's fund. It is so hard to watch friends go through suffering and to feel so helpless. But if everyone that reads contributes even a little, I pray it will help to alleviate the added burden of medical expenses during this family's challenging time.
