Melinah's Missionary Training/Trip

My name is Melinah St. Louis, and I am a seventeen year old high school graduate looking to raise funds for this next phase of my life. I strongly believe that it is God's will for me to now attend the YWAM Las Vegas Orphan Care Program, and would like your support.
From the time I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of founding my own orphanage with hundreds of children. As I got older, the desire somewhat faded, but remained with me. Several months ago, a friend from church went on a mission trip and shared with the congregation her experience working with YWAM. Hearing her testimony rekindled some of that desire and I began to think that this is God’s will for me also.
YWAM (Youth With A Mission) is a program that helps youth serve God with a new passion. Not only does it train students to effectively serve, it also propels students to different parts of the world to put their training into practice. YWAM sounded like a dream come true! Not only will I be learning about establishing and running an orphan care program, but will have ample opportunity to show children the love of God.
During the first twelve weeks of the program, I will receive training and discipleship in a community setting with an emphasis on making a difference in the lives of orphaned children. There will be outreach opportunities including evangelism, working with local foster families, loving and mentoring abused and neglected children. This phase is designed to teach me the many struggles and joys that come from working on the front lines of orphan care.
The second phase will allow me to put into practice all that I learned in the first twelve weeks of the program. Our mission team will be traveling to a foreign nation and working alongside Christian organizations and churches to reach the needs of orphaned and oftentimes neglected children in the area. This final phase is designed to equip me with the tools necessary to pioneer an orphan/foster care program or simply further the mission of an existing one.
Naturally however, something this amazing needs funding. Training with YWAM and then going forth on the outreach mission trip will cost approximately $7,500. This amount will cover all fees such as tuition and books, airfare and traveling, room and board, food, and other basic necessities. Please prayerfully consider a financial gift to help make my long-time dream a reality.
Although I am somewhat apprehensive, I am excited to see what God has in store for me. I hope that God will place it in your heart to give whatever you can to help cover these necessary expenses so I can go discover God's calling for my life.
