Help Melissa feed in need Filipino kids

Please help send me to the Philippines for 6 weeks this summer for a service trip!
I am attending Tufts University this fall for a Masters in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition. But before I go, I will be going to Tacloban City, in the Philippines this summer to plan and implement a suplementary feeding program for infants and young children, chart their growth and progress, and hold healthy food seminars for the community. There is a huge need for healthy food in this developing country, and having growing kids get enough essential protein and vitamins and minerals. If kids do not get enough nutrition early in life, their mental and physical growth will be stunted for life.
The organization is called Volunteer for the Visayans (the island Tacloban is on is called Visaya). This is a non-profit that helps support the local community, especially kids. Other programs they do include building homes, working with the "dump site children", and community education. (Picture from the Volunteer for the Visayans website)
The Philippines were devestated by a typhoon last November and are still without electricty and running water in many places. The NGO I will be working with, Volunteer for the Visayans, is committed to rebuilding and promoting health in many areas of the country. (Pictures from google)
There is really no such thing as a "free volunteer program" overseas and with my program cost, vaccines, and flight, I am looking at a $4,000 bill. If I can raise even $100, that's more money I can give to the program and purchase more supplies and food for my specific program, as well as help mitigate some of my costs.
Anything helps, and I appreciate any donation toward my trip. THANK YOU. I am planning on creating a blog and keeping everyone updated with the progress the kids are making and my experiences.
I cannot wait for this life-changing experience, and I know it will let me start Tufts with a fuller mind and fuller heart.
