Hi my name is Kristina and I am a 45 yr old with breast cancer and a mother of four children. Matthew 28, Carson age 9, Dillon age 8 and Gianna age 6. I live with my husband and family in upstate NY.
I was was diagonsed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2009. In 2010 I went through chemotherapy for 8 month. In 2011 I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction surgery. Due to complications I had to undergo 6 surgeries that same year. 2012 it came back in my lymph nodes and I had to have them removed and in 2013 it went into remission. I went through radiation in 2014 for precautionary measure and in May of that same year it came back on my liver and bone. I am now in chemotherapy again weekly since June of 2014. I was told I will have to be on it the rest of my life. I'm ok with that. Trying to stay positive in the mist of everything is getting harder each day.
As I am sure most of you know how financially straining this can be with cost of co pays, gas and sitters etc.. We pay our own insurance which is very costly . My husband owns a small (just himself) remodeling business. He works very hard and seven days a week, even holidays if need be. With everything going on along with no jobs coming in, we are falling so far behind the eight ball, there doesn't seem an end in sight. This is my families last resort. We are barely getting by. If it were not for friends and family, my children would have had nothing to open this past Christmas.
I have brought our household expenses down to the bare minimum. My children do not understand but are adapting. They are very grateful children.
My purpose to raise money is to be able to pay off the bills that are backing up and be able to have oil brought to the house for heat. We are scrapping by just to buy groceries. I just found out that the two boys need teeth pulled and jaw expanders along with braces. Uggg.
We have never been in this kind of situation and it is very frustrating and embarrassing .
I am hoping that one day when we get back on our feet we could take a very first family vacation, maybe to go see my family in Florida. I do miss them.
Whatever we recieve, I will be truly grateful and one day hope to pay it forward for others who are in the same boat. I thank all of you in advance and God bless you all.
