Melemalt's 2017 JSA Stanford Trip

My name is Melemalt Ernest Benedict and I hail from the small island nation of Palau. I was selected amongst thousands of applicants from all across the United States and Micronesia for The Junior Statesman of America 2017 Stanford Summer Program.  In order to attend this program, I need to pay tuition and airfare which totals $7600. Through my hard work, and the assistance of family and friends, I have managed to fundraise $3025.46 and need $4574.54 to meet my goal.
I am really looking forward to attending this program for a number of reasons. By far the most outstanding of these reasons is so I can bring knowledge of leadership and public speaking back to my community and apply it. I have recently been elected as Vice President of the Mindszenty High School's Student Body Association. The responsibilities this job entail include rallying support, public speaking, and assistance for new policies, raising funds, and administering school activities. I believe JSA will help me with this plan. I have to depart  by June 23rd, hence my tuition must be paid before then.
