My cousin Melanie is no stranger to adversity. From becoming a single mom at age 20 and supporting her eldest daughter Ava as she underwent heart surgery, to caring for her husband Eric as he underwent numerous procedures and brain surgery—she has never once asked her friends or family for help. Now it is our turn to return the love and support Melanie has always shown to those around her.
In early December of 2017, Melanie at just 32 years old, was diagnosed with Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. Thankfully, her cancer was caught relatively early and overall the prognosis is good, but she will still need to endure months of treatment and chemotherapy.
As a mother to three young children, Melanie’s diagnosis has turned her family’s world upside down overnight. With the growing uncertainty of how she will able to continue to work and help make ends meet, care for her children during treatment and pay for the mounting medical bills—Melanie’s family desperately needs our help. Her primary focus is ensuring her children will be well taken care of throughout this ordeal.
100% of all funds raised will be going to cover out-of-pocket medical and child care expenses during the course of her treatment. In the event there are any remaining funds, all proceeds will be donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
