Melanie needs help to fight cancer

Melanie Hall needs us all more than ever—her cancer fight is now critical.

If you don’t know her yet, this is Melanie Hall—Mel to those who know and love her. She’s 45 years old and mother to Maddie. The picture above is of them during Mel's remission from breast cancer a few years back.

Maddie is 14 now and loves to bake with her mom and to go shopping, or go to the zoo. Mel had to have a tough conversation with her about fighting cancer once more.  As a survivor of breast cancer twice in the past, I’m putting my money on Mel fighting back cancer yet again and sticking around for as long as possible to be with her daughter.

Mel’s spine, liver, and lung are now affected. Maddie’s old enough this time to be scared, but she’s handling the news just like her mom: she’s brave and hopeful that they’ll win this fight against cancer, just like before.

I'm asking for your help because she’s been one of my best and most inspiring friends for more than 20 years.

She needs help to raise the funds needed to have the best possible chance as she fights for her life.

There are treatment options that aren’t covered by Mel’s insurance but can make a real difference. Things like out-of-network consultations, dietary supplements, specialized treatments, and palliative care.

They’re not currently options for her because she can’t afford them and still cover bills and provide for her family. There's no extra budget for this fight. That’s where you and I come in like the Kool-Aid man (Oh Yeah!). We help her fight.

Anything you do to support Mel now is immediately helpful. Sharing this fundraiser in your network of family and friends is a huge help.

$1-$100 can buy the fuel needed to travel for medical appointments and treatments.

$100+ can help cover the costs of bills, groceries, insurance deductibles, and co-pays while Mel is on unpaid medical leave.

Donating not only helps financially but also provides needed relief from worry and stress and helps Mel afford treatments that aren’t covered by insurance but help her body recover and rally against cancer.

The amount we're trying to raise here is just a guess at what she'll need over the next few months. When Mel goes on FMLA, she won't be getting paychecks (they just make sure she'll still have a job later on). There's no buffer and it's scary.

Everything helps. Anything is appreciated.

She's a mother.

She's a sister.

She's a daughter.

She's a wonderful friend—literally the sunshine in life—and she needs our help and support.

On behalf of Mel and her daughter Maddie, and those helping us get this campaign to you so that you can know them and witness their beautiful life together, thank you.

You can follow Mel’s progress here on her CaringBridge Journal site. Visit often and cheer her on!

Thank you for reading this, for sharing Mel’s fight, and for everything you do today to support Melanie Hall.
