To Melanie's dear family and friends,
Her first battle against cancer started so unexpectedly for her in February 2014. She was diagnosed with Esophagus Cancer and had most of her esophagus removed. She fought hard to recuperate and was back living life to the fullest only a few short months after my surgery. Now, three years later, she faces a new battle. Unfortunately, this new enemy will be much more difficult for her to fight.
As a lot of you may know she has been battling with various stomach issues since February of this year. Culminating in April when she lost 15 lbs that month and was put on a mostly liquid diet. At the time she thought she was only fighting SIBO and then Gastroparesis. She said "Only" but they are very difficult conditions in their own right to treat.
What she did not know was that underneath all her pain and symptoms was a large tumor (over 10 cm's in circumference) which attached itself to her stomach and then penetrated through the wall of the stomach. She was feeling so awful on Wednesday, June 21st when she went to the ER and that is when the tumor was discovered. She and her family are deeply shocked and still in disbelief. She wants everyone that she loves and who is dear to her that the road ahead for her will be extremely difficult and hard on her, the family, her loving husband, her devoted son and amazing daughter.
She will have to make changes in her life in order to fight. She hates that she has been robbed of her daily life. With the strength of her family and friends she will get through this but she needs each and every one of us.
Melanie is such an inspiration to so many daily that I am sure that there are angels out there to help take the financial burden off of her so that she and her family can focus on her health and healing.
The mass is growing rapidly. She will start 5 weeks of chemo and radiation and then stomach surgery.
