Mehitabel (aka Bitchy) needs oral surgery. She needs you to help pull her teeth out.
Update: So, we brought her in because I'm positive we'll make our goal! Still in financial straits, though and need to get there.
It was a miracle we got her in when we did...waiting could have been, well, too late. She's 2 lbs lighter than the beginning of this venture and hard getting weight on her.
Vet practice was amazed when scheduled because of this campaign. Vet came to adore Bitchy over the years and chilled with her until 9pm after the surgery keeping her company and keeping an eye on her.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
She has lymphoplasmacytic stomatitis. Essentially, she's become allergic to her teeth and the only remedy at this point is a full mouth extraction (more cowbell will do nothing).
It started very mildly in december, but it she rapidly deteriorated and is in severe pain.
In this condition, ulcers/sores form all around the mouth. She has them on her tongue, back at her throat, under her tongue, on her gums...just all over.
She wants to eat and drink, but it hurts too much. It even hurts too much to groom herself.
The only way to ward off her death/deterioration is to have this surgery ASAP. The steroids to ease the symptoms only make the prognosis worse.
It is this or euthenasia soon because of how it affects her "quality of life." She lost a pound in the last month.
This has come at the worst time, provided I can in no way afford to treat at this time.
Gofundme it is all I can do to possibly get her help.
She feels like poo.
Blood tests show she has no underlying conditions and the vet says that she'll bounce back with the surgery.
I am alive because of these two. They've been my saving grace during bouts of depression and keep me company when I can't do things. I make sure I keep myself together if only TO take care of them. Just right now, with career changing and contract jobs--this was not in my budget.
They're my only constant in this world.
I picked her and her brother (The Doctor) back in January 2011 from a family north of Atlanta. They're littermates & don't know the world without one another.
They'd had two or three homes before me. My heart breaks thinking of losing one of the two of them. They are two halves of a whole.
The total goal would cover the surgery (anesthesia, x-rays, actual labor, etc.), tests I couldn't afford, current palliative care, & recovery meds.
It felt super serious when they showed me how to fill her with fluids and sent me home with it. :(
Bitchy does not enjoy long walks. She enjoys gazing out the window...
Stretching at the window...
Resting on pillows like a queen...
And, occasionally, contemplating the meaning of life.
Thank you for considering helping. Anything/everything is appreciated.
