Meghan's Hope

Meghan led a normal life; she went to school, graduated and worked doing things she loved: as a children's therapist and a healthy & fit yoga instructor. But in early 2012, things unraveled on Meghan. She became very ill and began to have trouble with the simple task of digesting her food. Soon doctors would diagnose her with Gastroparesis.

Gastroparesis causes Meghan’s stomach to fail her. It essentially is paralyzed and does not break down and digest anything she eats or drinks. As a result, Meghan has endured several surgeries to have a feeding tube installed—and replaced on occasion—to sustain her.

During this process, Meghan has had been dealt a tremendous change to her quality of life; as well as a significant decrease to her health. Gastroparesis has caused her lose a substantial amount of weight. Prior to her diagnosis, Meghan was a healthy and fit yoga instructor. But now, she is so weak that most days she struggles to get out of bed. She suffers fainting spells from her lack of nutrition and strength. Simple tasks such as getting out of bed and getting some water are major hurdles for her. A typical day may even include being connected to machines for up to 20 hours per day.

Over the past three years, Meghan has been attempting to find a solution or remedy to her plight. She has located a doctor offering a corrective surgery that gives her hope to live a normal life again—where she can eat and be healthy. However, her insurance company has denied her repeated requests to have a surgery performed. As a result, she is left in limbo and forced to continue to live this difficult life.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to bypass the insurance companies. We are looking to pay for Meghan’s surgery option & related medical expenses out of pocket. It is a steep bill and will require a lot of donations from people just like you! We are counting on the generosity of others to give Meghan the life she deserves.
