Meggie Runs London

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon!

On April 22, 2018 I will be taking on my 4th marathon (3rd of the 6 World Majors!) in London, England! I am so thrilled for this opportunity and appreciate your support every step of the way.

But of course, you know I can’t just RUN a marathon. I’ve got to merge purpose to passion. I will be running all 26.2 glorious miles to raise funds and awareness for a wonderful organization called Get Kids Going! – a charity that gives disabled children and young people the vital opportunity of participating in sport. How could I not love this organization?

Get Kids Going! provides disabled individuals with specially built sport wheelchairs so they can do: athletics, marathons, tennis, skiing, rugby, sailing, boccia, basketball, sledge hockey, table tennis, fencing, shooting, archery, powerlifting and so many more sports. Get Kids Going! inspires disabled young people to compete in sporting events, from amateur to Paralympic level, by also giving them sports grants to help with their training, rehabilitation, travel, competition fees, and design and development of sports equipment. With your help, many can become world record holders and Paralympic champions!

My goal here is simple. I have committed to raise a minimum of £2,000 (that's $2,700 USD) for this organization as part of my London Marathon efforts. So, today I am asking for your help in reaching this goal to support an incredible charity. Please consider supporting my run by donating to my fund today and sharing my story with your friends and family. Every dollar will help make a difference in the lives of these individuals.

This organization is particularly important to me because of my relationship with my I Run 4 buddy, Hylan, who was born with Down syndrome in April 2014. Hylan and I were matched in the I Run 4 program in November of 2015, and in the two years we've been matched I have been so lucky to be a part of his family. Now I dedicate all of my miles, races and adventures to him - just as he works hard in all of his daily routines to grow and learn. He inspires me to be my best, work hard and set challenging goals. Hylan participates in many therapies and activities to help in his developmental progress, and I know that one day he may be able to take advantage of sports and wellness programs like those offered by the Get Kids Going organization.

I will be dedicating every mile of training to Hylan, and I hope you'll help me reach my goal in his honor.

Please follow my adventures as I document the 18 weeks of training leading up to the big day. You can follow along at my blog - Run. Eat. Play. Repeat. here: Miss Meggie's World

Thank you for all that you do!

Happy running!
