Megan's Dental Fund

My name is Megan Grinnen and I was a single parent for 20 years as I raised my four children.  I have worked odd jobs over this period of time and none provided insurance of any kind - especially dental. What money I had went to putting food on the table, gas in the car and rent. There wasn't a lot left over for anything else. Now that I am older, I find myself on disability and I am working a part time job making minimum wage so that I don't go over the allotted amount I can make in a month.

A few years ago, my medical conditions had me on medications that dried out my mouth, thus making my teeth start to get infected to the point of having to have my teeth pulled out, one by one.  My mouth health was in a slow decline until this last year.  My teeth became increasingly infected, affecting the rest of my health.  I am diabetic, so that has affected my A1C numbers and my daily blood counts along with my blood pressure and everything else.

Beginning in the early part of 2017, I began to have one tooth after another become infected and then needing to be pulled. Again, not having the funds, I was not able to invest in bridges or dentures.

At one point, my four front teeth on top became so infected that they became loose and had to be pulled. I work with the public, so this was mortifying to me. Then I had a back molar pulled and this caused my bone in my gum to separate and expose a very sharp ridge of bare bone in the bottom left side of my mouth which cut up the side and bottom of my tongue. I had to have a costly surgery to repair that bone.  I now have another bone that separated from my lower right gum from a tooth extraction and am looking at another costly surgery to repair that bone.

I ended up going to a dental clinic and had to have the rest of my teeth pulled due to the infections running rampant in my gums.  They have given me healing dentures and I am scheduled to have regular dentures fitted in 4 months.

This has been very costly to me without dental insurance and I am working hard to make a lot of payments to 3 dental clinics that I have been to for extractions, oral surgery and finally the last 12 extractions and dentures.

I am already struggling with medical payments for my ill health because Medicare does not pay for everything and with all the infections in my mouth over the last year, my physical health has suffered as well.  I owe so much money for not only dental bills, but for medical bills as well.  It keeps me up some nights from just worrying how this will work out.

If I could pay the bulk of this debt before the end of the year OR at least before I go back for my permanent set of dentures, that would relieve so much of the stress I am feeling over this whole thing.

I would be so very grateful if you would find it in your heart to help me out financially for these costs.

Whatever you can spare, any little bit helps!

Thank you very much and may God bless you!
