Meg's Birthday Divided Sky Fund

Hello everyone! 

I hope that this finds everyone safe and healthy - 

As some of you may know, Meg's birthday is coming up in just under two weeks - November 27th. I've been trying to figure out the best way to celebrate her and I think that I've found something that would really make her day. 

For the past six weeks the lead guitarist for the band Phish, Trey Anastasio, has hosted a webcast event called, The Beacon Jams. While the webcast has featured Anastasio and guests performing each week, the series is connected to something bigger - The Divided Sky Fund. The cause is currently $50k under their goal. 

For those who are not familiar, the Divided Sky Foundation was created, in part by Anastasio, to develop a treatment center in Vermont that can serve anyone in need of quality, evidence-based, co-occurring SUD and mental health treatment. The Divided Sky Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that will provide long-term residential addiction treatment in Ludlow, Vermont. 

Anastasio himself is a recovering addict and has dedicated himself to raise awareness to the harsh reality that addiction can cause. His openness about his past and recovery has been essential to many who are in recovery. 

How does this connect to Meg? 

Years before I met Meg, her sister Jeanne passed away. Jeanne dealt with addiction issues which contributed to her death. Also, in the past two years, she has lost both of her parents to cancer. Lastly, as most of you know, Meg is very much a Phish fan and has been absolutely touched by Trey's story and performances each week. Tears were very heavy during the Ghosts of The Forest set, which resonates to the loss of her parents. 

So what's the plan? 

In an effort to bring us all together in the name of Meg, it's my hope to open a fundraiser without her knowing and make a large donation during the last night of the Beacon Jams...her birthday...in hopes of getting her a shout out during the show. I know that this will not only be a big lift for her, but knowing that the donations are going towards addiction treatment, she will be very moved. Even if there isn't a shout out, I will provide her with a list of the people who donated in her name and the total amount. 

All donations will be via this GoFundMe page and 100% (minus fees) will go directly to the Divided Sky Foundation.
