Megan's Medical Mission Trip to Tanzania

Donation protected

Dear family and friends,

I have a favor and request of you in considering to aid me in helping Megan with the opportunity to go on a Medical mission trip to Tanzania. First off I want to explain the reason for my involvement is it is a SURPRISE for Megan. So please remember to keep quiet (shhhhhh) and not to mention to Megan just yet. This is a Christmas present surprise. When asked what I could get her for Christmas, I have gotten the same reply every time I ask, "I just want to be able to go on the trip to Tanzania." Well while it would be easier to go to the mall and get her some new clothes or shoes etc. this is really what she wants. Megan asked me to put whatever money I would spend on her towards the trip. So since I like to have some surprise for my kids I decided to start the fund raising for her and be able to present her with the amount raised thus far.

MEDLIFE, which stands for Medicine, Education & Development for Low Income Families Everywhere, is the organization Megan is involved with at UGA. She currently is on the board and does advertising for fundraisers, functions and all other news. Medlife is nationwide in most of the larger colleges. If you would like to see further information you can see their facebook pages: Medlife UGA and Medlife and their website is medlifeweb.org. The trip to Tanzania is in May 2014. Trip cost is $850, plus airfare which is approximately $2500.

Megan was able to attend a trip to Peru last December with MEDLIFE. She was moved and blessed beyond words by the experience and has wanted to go on another trip ever since. The mission is usually twofold. One side is the medical side in which they treat and see patients. Megan was able to assist the doctors and nurses in seeing patients and ironically was helping the children learn how to brush their teeth. The other side is helping the people with tools to better themselves. In Peru, this was accomplished by building a concrete staircase to enable them to travel down the very steep mountain they lived on to get to town for there basic needs and for work.

Megan is a senior this year at UGA and will graduate this spring with a bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science. She has applied to Mercer University to do graduate studies as a Physician Assistant.

I appreciate you taking the time in reading this and would appreciate your prayers for Megan to be able to reach her goal and for her safety and protection. I also appreciate any donation you feel led to give. I know times are difficult and the holidays can be especially taxing on our funds. Just know there is no such thing as too little. Any amount is GREATLY appreciated. You can also give after the holidays this is just to get Megan started on her fundraising. You can give anonymous if you choose but I know Megan will like to hear from you and you can write her a note as well. I will show her this on Christmas day! Again thanks for your prayers and your friendships. Lastly, reminder this is a surprise so please do not post to my wall. Send messages in private only on facebook or email.

With deep appreciation,

Kim Griffin
