Meet our miracle Gabrielle Kasim. Gabrielle was diagnosed with cerebral palsy one week after birth. She is the sweetest and happiest 14-year-old girl, her ability to brighten your day with her beautiful smile and laughter never fails. Gabrielle was able to combat many difficulties in her life and still managed to keep her smile and fight through her daily struggles of being immobile and non-verbal. It is amazing how someone who is non-verbal is able to express so many emotions and signals that allows us to understand what she is trying to say and express.
On November 2, 2020, Gabrielle was admitted to the hospital in Trinidad. She was in constant pain and her medications were not helping in any sort of way. Upon admission Gabrielle endured numerous battles with a bacterial infection which the doctors could not pinpoint, brain abscesses and breathing problems which required her being on a ventilator where she spent a total of two months hospitalized. She underwent surgeries such as Dialysis, Tracheotomy, Feeding Tube and Brain Surgeries. Due to her Tracheotomy Gabrielle is unable to produce any sort of sounds and requires a more attentive caring.
Gabrielle is not able to join any sort of clinics at Trinidad since she is a national of Guyana, therefore, most of her doctors’ visits and checkups are done at private institutions or home visits. All her medical and living expenses falls upon her dad who is the sole bread winner at her home. Gabrielle’s medical expenses per month range from $4000 - $ 4500 TTD per month. Need help
Gabrielle is a warrior and fought through so many battles. Even though we are not able to hear her beautiful laugh, we are able to see her smile and it is truly a blessing every day to wake up to such a heartwarming child. There were instances where the doctors stated that this is the end for our little angel, but she fought through all these battles just to be alive and show her strength that she never gave up and we should not either. Gabrielle means everything to our family, and she deserves a life of comfort and nurturing which we aim to give her. We believe that she has many more years and healthy life ahead of her.
