Meet Mina...Our Rescue Girl

Meet Mina...German for Love and Dutch for Protector. She is our fifth rescue. Given what she has been through, it is quite miraculous that she continues to have the most beautiful disposition and temperament. Please help us give this girl the loving family life she deserves.
"She's a 3 year-old red female who is super sweet!" they said. FACT: Our vet estimates she is somewhere between 1 - 2 years-old who has already had a recent liter of puppies. She weighed 22 kilograms when we picked her up. In other words, she came to us 20-25 pounds underweight. And super sweet is an understatement!
"She arrived into a rescue ... as a stray, so we don't know much about her," they said. FACT: Someone shot her with a nail gun and she has a nail embedded in the bone in her shoulder. The nail, which has been there a while, has now migrated and she is in excruciating pain.
"*She has an infection on her paw that's being treated," they said. FACT: Once we were able to knock down the infection and swelling, X-rays showed that she had two fractures in her foot that had been there for sometime.
And this is the photo that started it all. When we saw this sweet face, we knew we had to do something for this amazing girl who has stolen our hearts in the short 35 days we have had her.
She is currently in the vet ER on IV antibiotics and pain management until the board certified orthopedic surgeon can attempt to remove the nail late tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, March 3, 2018. The deposit required for this was $5,299.87.
Including the above deposit, our current total outlay for vet bills alone is $10,161.76. At our consultation today at the vet ER/veterinary specialists, there was talk of medication and physical therapy upon discharge, so we expect that number to increase.
This sweet little girl steals the heart of everyone she meets. She has the kindest eyes and deserves so much more than she has experienced in her short life. Her body has kept the score of the trauma she has suffered, but she continues to have the purest heart and will pour out her love onto anyone who will sit or stand still long enough to receive it.
We would be grateful for any help in covering her medical expenses. The veterinarians believe that once the nail is removed and any existing infection dealt with, that her prognosis should be good. Being so young, we hope to have many years with her to show her a different side of humanity than what she has known.
