Meet Bailey
Meet Bailey, she was born at 33 weeks weighing 3 lbs, 16 oz. She is now a sweet 16 month old baby with a beautiful smile but has had some difficulties. Bailey was born with Cytomegalovirus (CMV ) in which has caused some developmental delays including some hearing loss. She also has Hydrocephalus which is a condition where fluid accumulates in the brain.
Bailey’s doctors put her on a high dosage of steroids to help with her brain development, however the steroids had an adverse affect on her overall health, she has a G-tube that allows her to eat without aspirating in her lungs. Bailey makes an excessive amount of secretions due to respiratory issues and as a result, she has to travel with a suctioning machine for keeping her lungs and nose suctioned. She also has to use a nebulizer machine.
Due to difficulty breathing, Bailey requires oxygen and heart monitoring 24/7 and requires the use of an oxygen tank when she sleeps and during the day if her levels drop. Bailey travels with 4 machines, as you can imagine, this can be quite bulky. Bailey is in need of a portable oxygen machine.
