Meeko’s Hospital Bill

I am raising funds for the emergency care of our 4 year old rescue cat Meeko. He has been with me through everything. He started throwing up and acting sick on Saturday so on Monday I rushed him to the vets thinking he had a stomach bug. The amazing vet did a full exam because she knew something was wrong and found string wrapped around his tongue and down his throat. They couldn’t see anything on X-ray so they thought they could sedate him and pull it out. When they tried there was resistance and they needed to rush him into emergency surgery. They had to do extensive surgery going into his GI track in 6 different locations to pull out an insane amount of string. They warned me that waking up from such an intense surgery was going to be the first challenge. But he did, he woke up. His liver function is not great, there was a hole in his intestine where fecal matter seeped into his body, and he’s only eating through a feeding tube they place during surgery. Yesterday he was able to get off the machines and walk around a bit and sleep on me during visiting hours. The vets have been so amazing calling me constantly with updates and allowing visits. We are not out of the woods yet. We need him to eat independently not with the feeding tube and he needs to have a bowel movement. The vet said it’s a miracle he’s a live. They said each day he is improving and he is a fighter and wants to live. I have been having such a hard time. I feel so guilty, never in a million years would I think our fat lazy boy would eat so much string. He is family. Anything you can contribute will help. Thank you!
