There is just too much to explain regarding the struggle and suffering that is attached to childhood cancer. Given that, I will keep this short, for the Davis family's privacy.
A lot of you know little Leah and her family, as well as her history with Medulloblastoma. At just 5 years old, Leah went through radiation and chemo last year and had recently started progressing toward a more normal lifestyle the past few months. In June right by her 6th birthday, Leah had a follow-up scan, which was expected to come back clean. I mean, with all the progress she has made and continues to make, wouldn't that be your expectation? Just a few days after her 6th birthday, however, the family learned that the scan showed a new diagnosis of medulloblastoma with leptomeningeal spread, which is a sugarcoating of the brain, spinal cord, spinal fluid, etc.
With the lack of any visible physical symptoms, it almost seems like a nightmare or a mistake. Why is this happening again? With Leah already having gone through treatment with chemo and radiation, her options are limited. She will be entering into a clinical trial soon to help fight this nasty disease. Because of the family’s need to travel in and out of Boston, as well as countless other expenses that go toward caring for themselves and their children, I’ve started this fund for the family to spend as they need. Keep your thoughts and heart with the Davis family, Jess, Chris, and Will, while they endure the upcoming few weeks/months.
