Peru has become one of the epicenters of Covid-19. In Peru there is a beautiful city, called Arequipa. Covid-19 has exploded in this city in a way that you cannot imagine. I am from Arequipa and my family is in Peru. I’m desperately trying to help them.
Last night, many patients had to sleep in tents outside the hospital because the hospital has collapsed. Many of the very sick patients spent a freezing winter night sitting down connected to cold oxygen. No heating sytem at all. The doctors were pushing their limits to keep them as comfortable as possible. The situation is not better today, and it will be worse tomorrow. The virus is still spreading.
Campaña Médicos Solidarios Arequipa (Perú) has been raising money to buy PPE (personal protective equipment) and supplies for all the health care front line workers in Arequipa.
Right now, Peru is the country with the highest amount of doctors that have lost their lives due to Covid-19 (65 deceased, 1030 infected, 52 in the Intensive care unit).
I am reaching out to you to ask to please donate money, no matter the amount, please give what you can, every penny could save a life!
I ask you to please join Campaña Medicos Solidarios Arequipa by donating money. The money will go directly to buy PPEs and will be immediately delivered personally by medicos solidarios volunteers to the local hospitals.
All the volunteers are people like you and me. Our only motivation is to help this city stay afloat and protect the lives of the doctors and patients. The campaign does not have any profit or political purpose. The campaign has complete transparency. Please find us on facebook.
