Medically Necessary IVF

Donation protected
What I'm raising money for:  For infertility treatment.

How the money will be used:
For medication and medical bills.

Why this is important to me:
My husband and I have been
together a little over 4 years and tied the knot on 10/7/2016. We each have a child from previous relationships...his daughter is almost 21 and mine just turned 7. Israel and I have always dreamt of having a child together one day...not only for him and I, but my 7 year old has been asking for a sibling for a long time now. Unfortunately on 4/27/2017 we lost the chance of ever conceiving a child together naturally.
As it turns out, I was pregnant with twins, except what happened to me only happens to about 1 in 35,000 women. I had what was called a "heterotopic pregnancy." What that means is that I had a rare complication of pregnancy in which both extra-uterine
(ectopic pregnancy) and intrauterine pregnancy (normal uterine pregnancy) both occur at the same time.
Because this is so rare it is pretty difficult to diagnose. Luckily for me, I had 11 years experience working as a CMA (certified medical assistant) in the OBGYN  field and I knew what I was feeling was NOT normal.  Based on my ultrasound there was a yolk sac present in my uterus but I was in so much pain that I knew something wasn't right. I ended up being taken by ambulance to the ER at 6am one weekday morning and they could now see a mass near the left ovary which they were almost positive was an ectopic pregnancy. They treated me with an injection called methotrexate, which is supposed to break down the cells of the ectopic pregnancy and reabsorb it back into your body. I was send home after receiving the injection and followed up with my MD the following day. Based on my blood work my HCG levels were dropping the way they were supposed to, but now since my body was going through something so traumatic I ended  miscarrying  the normal pregnancy in my uterus.  I went back to my  MD to check my HCG levels again  and unfortunately got the call that they had risen again. I needed to return to the doctors office to get another injection.
I ended up going back for the second injection the next day and unfortunately that night around 11pm I was in so much pain that I had my husband drive me to the ER for our now second trip. Once I got there they did blood work and another ultrasound.
:( That was the night my whole life changed.
I had an amazing GYN doctor come in to see me and made me aware that based on the ultrasound I needed to have emergency surgery to remove my follopian tubes. She told me that she was glad that I didn't go to sleep and that I made a smart move by coming to the ER. Soon after I was on the operating table, and next thing I knew I was in the recovery room. I remember her coming in and telling me that the ectopic pregnancy that was in my tube was about the size of a quarter and I had  about 200 cc's of internal bleeding. My right tube had so much scar tissue that it needed to be removed also because this would just happen to me all over again.
Now my only option is doing IVF  and after looking into all of my insurance options, it turns out that I basically don't have much of an option. My health insurance carries a lifetime maximum of a $5000 benefit for infertility, which if you have ever needed to go through this process you know is nothing.  Also...in the state of Connecticut, where we live, if you have a medical necessity for infertility it is mandated  that your insurance company cover a few rounds of IVF treatment. But if your employer pays into their own insurance benefits then they do not need to follow that mandate. I have done anything and everything I possibly could to figure out a way for my husband and I to be able to have another child .  As you can only imagine this is such a personal issue for us, that the last thing that I ever wanted to do is let anyone know what we were going through. Only a handful of people really know what happened and it took me several months to even except it. I have turned to Go Fund me in the hopes that we will be able to raise anything that will help us! We thank you in advance and thank all of our family and friends who have been here for us with this very difficult situation.
Thank you! ❤️
