Medically Necessary Gastric Bypas

Hi my name is Tracy. I am the mother of three children and three stepchildren. I also have two grandchildren. I work for the local school district and am active in my church.
Around three weeks ago I went to the hospital for severe stomach pain. While I was there they did an ultrasound, x-rays, a cat scan and sent me home. When I went for my follow up appointment with my primary care physician I was told I have an extremely enlarged fatty liver that could result in cirrhosis. I was told the fatty liver was caused by a combination of my diet and diabetes. Consequently my primary care physician recommended I have gastric bypass surgery and see a surgeon as this would reverse the prognosis .
Unfortunately my insurance does not cover gastric bypass surgery even when it is medically necessary. I am able to come up with $2,750 on my own, but the surgery costs approximately $17,500 leaving a difference of $14,750. The hospital will not take a partial payment. They require payment in full prior to the surgery. When I went to the doctors today they stated they would like to do the surgery prior to the end of this year. However, I am shooting more towards the beginning of next year if I am able to raise the money.
I am currently doing all I can without the surgery to reverse the damage to my liver. I am on a low carb diet and walking a minimum of 10000 steps per day. This surgery is life saving for me. If I don't get the surgery my liver will begin to develop scar tissue and this is what causes cirrhosis. The longer I go without the surgery the more damage my liver will sustain.
