Help the Olin Family

Story

Edited Hi! My name is Kayla. I am married to my husband, John, and we were blessed with our 2 year old daughter (Hannah) and 10 month old twins (Micah and Dominic) after years of infertility and 3 straight pregnancy losses. Our twins are medically complex babies. Because of this, we have spent 51 days in the hospital since August. We have eight weekly therapy sessions (feeding and physical) each week between our kiddos, along with all too common hospital admissions, surgeries, testing, and so much more that happens every week. Neither of our boys eat by mouth. They are both G-Tube (surgically placed feeding tube) fed and while most babies get their share of sickness, our boys usually become hospitalized when they get sick. One of our twins (Dom) does not have the ability to swallow. Our other twin (Micah) aspirates when he eats, for which he has now logged 30+ feeding therapy appointments in the last few months and there is no end in sight. Having medically complex twins has been very hard! We have become home nurses/doctors over the last 10 months. With medically complex children comes medical bills, and a lot of them. Also, time for their care has become a struggle as well. As a teacher, I have limited days to take off to be with my kids. Due to hospital stays, I ran out of PTO less than a month into the school year and it is a significant financial impact which each individual day I take off from that point. Nothing pains me more than to have to choose to go into work rather than take care of my sick kids due to the financial impact. I never thought we would make a gofundme, but we have had some friends and family ask us to make one so they can donate. If you are able to donate, anything helps! If you are not able to donate, please pray for our kiddos and their health. Thank you all for loving our family! - The Olin’s
