Harrison Family Medical Transition

Donation protected
Hello.   My name is Jay Harrison.  I am part of a family of five.  My wife, Angie, and I have been married for over 26 years.  We have three children: Brittany, Haley, and Aaron.  I was the primary income provider for the family.  Unfortunately, as of April 8th, I was put on medical leave without pay.  My remaining sick days and vacation days were quickly used up.  Doctor's order state that I am on medical leave and I am  to do no work and get rest.

It did not take long for our funds to be exhausted.  Our medical bills from multiple ER visits, MRI, and X-rays quickly grew higher than $10,000.  Within two months, we became evicted and our vehicle is up for repossession.  All of our possessions were put into storage.  Just a few days ago, after my most recent ER visit, our daughter Haley, let Brittany and Aaron stay at her fiance's mom's house.

As I am typing this, Brittany and Angie are actively filling  applications seeking a wide variety of job positions.  An anonymous person and a friend took care of 10 days at a hotel for us.

I am frequently in pain all over my body.  This is due to multiple areas of my spine having pinched nerves.   I have muscle spasms in almost all muscle areas from the neck down.  To date, I have gone to the ER SEVEN times. My primary care provider has sent my name to an neurosurgeon in New Orleans, almost two months ago, and they still have not contacted us to be put on a waiting list.  I have called multiple specialist and the price for the initial visit, depending on what is needed may range from over $500 to over $1,500.  This is just for the initial visitit.

What will this medical fund be used for?  The primary purpose is to get me scheduled to see a local specialist  Since my neck area is the primary part, with injuries, the ERs and primary care providers have done all they are allowed to do.  Most likely additional MRIs and X-rays will be needed.  One representative said that a neck and/or back brace may be required.  Funds will be also used to pay off some current medical bills depending on amount raised.  I am also in need of shortly needing to fill most prescriptions.  Portions may also be used to catch up vehicle note and provide safe housing of the family.

UPDATE July 15, 2015: Yes, we have also appplied for Medicaid, and are awaiting for application status.  This would help a lot.  Angie is still applying for jobs.  Our goals include having a long-term place to stay, due to thee school season arriving quickly.
