Loving mom of 4 needs help with ICU medical expenses

Jo Anne Katzman is a loving mom of 4, a wife, a grandmother, a sister and a former nurse.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Jo Anne was found in her bathroom by her husband, bleeding from her head, and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Further testing revealed that Jo Anne had multiple aneurysms with one that ruptured in the frontal lobe causing category 5 bleeding. Jo Anne is now in an induced coma in the ICU in a hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. The doctors have said that Jo Anne will be in the ICU for a minimum of the next three weeks, leaving her children and husband uncertain about the future.

Roill and Jo Anne discovered a lapse in their medical insurance just days before this tragic incident. Currently, they do not have adequate health insurance to cover the costs of the medical treatments required for a subarachnoid hemorrhage and being in the ICU for an extended amount of time. Jo Anne is the mother of 4, a grandmother of 2, an active member of the community, and always the first to lend a helping hand,  and now she needs your help.

The day of the incident Jo Anne was supposed to attend a final wedding dress fitting with her only daughter, Samantha. Jo Anne's dream is to see  Samantha be married on May 5, 2018.  Her son, Benjamin, created a save the date for his wedding hours before it happened, the date set for October 5th of the same year. Because of this unexpected medical emergency, Samantha and Benjamin are both willing to cancel their weddings to help cover Jo Anne's medical costs, but that only covers a fraction of the amount.  It is expected that Jo Anne will need long term neurological therapy.

Jo Anne has raised four amazing children. Her eldest son, Daniel, serves the community of Detroit as a paramedic for the Detroit Fire Department. Jo Anne's ability to give back to the community is reflected deep within him.  Daniel was Jo Anne's first child to give her a grandchild, Shelby. Shelby is turning 7 next month and is best friends with her Grandmother, seeing each other almost everyday. Her youngest son, Gregory, recently started his own family and just welcomed a new baby, Lucas, into the world about a year ago.  Lucus will be turning 1 next month. Jo Anne is a doting grandmother to her grandaughter and grandson.

Thank you for taking the time to read Jo Anne's story. Any amount donated towards Jo Anne's medical expenses would be greatly appreciated, and we would be forever grateful. 100 percent of the proceeds will be used to cover medical expenses accrued.

Please do not contact the family before Tuesday, January 30th.

Thank you!
