Medical Treatment for Tessa Hodgson

Donation protected
“About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.” Most people view this statistic as just a set of numbers, but they don’t consider the effects of this diagnosis until it hits close home and leaves them in shock. On October 4th, 2017, this shock became a reality for the Hodgson family when Tessa Hodgson, a woman who has done everything in her power to help others, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer.  Weeks later, on October 27th, she underwent a lumpectomy. Mrs. Hodgson has been waiting, with her supportive family and friends alongside her, to see if chemotherapy is needed. Not only this, but further treatment, including a double mastectomy, is awaiting Mrs. Hodgson.  Tessa, the strong woman that we all know and love, has been a fighter throughout this entire situation.

Mrs. Hodgson has positively impacted our community by acting as a wonderful wife, a loving mother of three, a mentor, a teacher, a dedicated coach, and an overall caring human being. She has taught at Mead High School since 2001, coached volleyball and basketball since 2002, and continues to work at a home for pregnant and parenting teenage girls. Each and every day, Mrs. Hodgson spreads happiness, laughter and smiles to those around her, refusing to let these recent obstacles stop her. While balancing her struggles and triumphs, Tessa comes home to her caring husband Donny Hodgson, her four-year-old energetic twin boys Cole and Tyler, and her adorable eighteen month-old daughter Mayah. With Donny at her side, Tessa and her husband have been battling through this situation while the couple remains in people’s thoughts and prayers. At this point in time, WE must step in, for the sake of giving back to Tessa and her family. Considering everything the Hodgsons have done for their community, it is only ideal we help as much as we can.

Treatment for breast cancer, let alone cancer in general, is unimaginably expensive. If factors including basic necessities, taxes, bills, and children’s education are taken into consideration, the pressure and numbers stack high. Due to this stress, it would be helpful for Tessa’s close-knit community, as well as others willing to help, to step up. Any amount you choose to donate will certainly matter and impact the Hodgson family. They have done their part, so please, let us do our part; whether our part is sharing this cause with others or donating, anything helps. Thank you.
