Medical Treatment for Carolyn

This past spring, our beautiful Carolyn Brunson set off for Los Angeles into a brave and promising adventure.  She has spent the summer inspiring us all with her energy and enthusiasm for all life has to offer.  While staying with her best friend, Anna, she has actively been meeting new people and achieving great potential in such a short amount of time. 

The past few months have been a wonderful chapter, but she has unexpectedly encountered a somber trial in her journey.

On Sunday, August 20th, Carolyn was admitted to West Hills Hospital having lost the ability to walk and have control of her body.  Unable to speak or breath on her own, she is currently dependent on a ventilator and a feeding tube. Preliminary tests have led doctors to diagnose her with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS).   

This is a rare disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the peripheal nerves and causes paralysis.  She has begun receiving plasma treatments (plasmapheresis) and will remain in the hospital indefinitely until she can begin to breathe on her own.  

Those who are familiar with her story, know that Carolyn is truly one of the strongest and resilient people to have blessed our lives.  She bravely devoted much of the past few years of her life to care for her mom, and we want to provide for her with the same love and strength that she herself possesses.  Although this is a shocking turn of events, we are filled with much hope that she can... and will... fight this battle alongside our prayers and aid.

There is a very long and intensive recovery ahead for her that will require inpatient treatment and physical therapy for many months.  We're asking for $8,000 to help cover these costs.
