Support for Kelly Monteith

On February 19th 2021, our dear friend Kelly Monteith suffered a massive stroke. Kelly was rushed to Cedar Sinai Hospital. After Kelly’s initial stroke, he showed signs of improvement.  After three weeks at Cedar’s, he was transferred to a rehab. At this point, Kelly was speaking relatively clearly, and recovery looked within reach. But, after a few days in the rehab, Kelly had another stroke. He had two brain bleeds. He was rushed back to Cedars, where the doctors performed more surgery on Kelly. At this point, the doctors diagnosed Kelly with Aphasia, which attacks the ability to speak. The Dr. informed Kelly’s ex-wife Caroline that Kelly might never speak again. After a day of crying and sadness, Caroline decided that this was not acceptable. Kelly is a brilliant comedian and has a wonderful mind. At this point, Caroline basically moved into Kelly’s room at Cedar’s and worked with Kelly every day and sure enough he slowly began to speak again although he’s not full conversational yet. After 2 months at Cedar’s Kelly moved back to the rehab for a few weeks and is now faced with the prospect of going to a nursing home or home with his family. Caroline and Kelly’s children have decided to bring him home, in an effort to take care of Kelly, love and work with him on his long road to recovery. They have prepared his room with required medical furniture and will have a nurse on hand. Between the family and some close friends, they are committed to taking care of Kelly.  

No one can ever truly be prepared to face a life altering situation like this, especially financially. We are raising money to support Kelly’s road to recovery and assist with the mounting medical bills. 100% of the funds raised will go towards required medical equipment and furniture, around the clock nursing, and physical and speech therapy.

Kelly was headlining on cruise ships when COVID hit and so he put 2020 to good use by creating a web-series with me called “The Real Geezers of Beverly Hills-Adjacent”. We were getting ready to film season 2 when Kelly had his first stroke. I spend as much time possible with my friend and together we will do whatever it takes to help Kelly enjoy his life and be as happy and comfortable as can be.
