As of mid-August 2020, our daughter KJ Thekan has been dealing with whole body paresthesia (numbness) along with many other symptoms. Her ability to walk was compromised and has little use of her hands which has caused her to be off work. She has been diagnosed by Mayo Clinic specialists with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia, and now Multiple Sclerosis (MS)..all within a matter of two months.
Looking back, KJ has struggled with various symptoms but she was able to complete school and work until recently when her symptoms progressed rapidly. Thankfully she lives in Rochester, MN where she can get the best medical care in the World. On the one hand it is reassuring to have diagnosis’s now, but on the other hand, it is hard to not have had a clear picture sooner. We hope and pray that her symptoms can be stabilized and she can live a more normal life once again.
We are reaching out to our family and friends in hopes that we can all pull together to relieve some of the financial burden KJ has faced in such a short amount of time due to all her medical bills. She already owes over $4,000 and that amount will continue to increase with her starting treatment to deal with MS. Her treatment will include IV infusions, maintenance MRIs, and a trial and error period of medications. She will also need treatment for the Fibromyalgia symptoms and POTS as well.
If you are able to help in any way, we know it will help reduce KJ's high level of stress during this difficult time.
She has also mentioned letters of encouragement or small care packages would help boost her mood while she is off work for the next 6 weeks (at least).
