Medical needs for Andres

We go to Vicente Guerrero, Mexico 2-3 times  per year with our church Saanich Baptist (SBC) to build houses, schools, help with breakfast programs, soccer programs and work with The Mission San Quintin (MSQ) Dream Centre.  This August  I had the privilege of visiting Andres to help him with his medical condition as I am a nurse. Andres was shot in the back about 14 years ago when he was in his late  20’s. He was paralyzed from the waist down and has struggled over the last while with pressure sores. These sores have worsened and become infected. When I visited him I cleaned the areas, and redressed them. I also was able to give him a ROHO cushion which is  a special pressure relief cushion for his wheelchair. This will help relieve  some of the pressure on the areas where the sores have developed. He was so unbelievably happy to have this. There is no medical insurance for Andres. There is no government assistance for those unable to work. If he needs medical care he has to pay for it. He was able to have a little area in the front of his place that he made into a Barber shop but he’s been so sick he hasn’t been able to work so he has no source of income. He had little food when we saw him and was pleased when he saw the bottles of water and food that we brought  him.  I left some medical supplies for wound care that would last a little while. Unfortunately he had to be  transported to Buen Pasteur, non profit hospital  about a week after we went home. He was very, very sick and close to death. There they gave him IV antibiotics and waited. He did have some surgery but will require more. His recovery is slow. This page is to help Andres survive. He needs money for medical expenses like medications and dressing supplies for wound care. Andres lives in two room house with cardboard walls to insulate it. He lives alone. The roads outside his door are rough, steep and rocky but he can manage to maneuver his wheelchair pretty good when he is well. Andres was a past gang member and now lives for Christ.  He is a witness to other gang members in his neighbourhood and through MSQ working beside and with them.  Please consider helping Andres. All money will go directly to medical, life sustaining expenses for him.
THANK  YOU and God Bless
