In rural Zambia, up to 65 percent of children suffer from at least three deprivations or more (lacking access to nutrition, education, health, water, sanitation, adequate housing).
1,200,000 people are living with HIV infections in Zambia. HIV/AIDS is also the leading cause of death in the country.
While Zambia offers universal healthcare to its citizens, the public health facilities in Zambia remain under-funded. People living in rural areas have to walk long distances to access health facilities. The few health personnel are overwhelmed by the high number of patients visiting the health facilities.
We all need to help and bring awareness to our community about these big issues.
