Medical Mission trip- Guatemala

Hello Everyone!
My name is Jonathan. I am a first year medical student at Campbell University School of Medicine. This December I excited to be volunteering for my first medical mission trip. The mission trip is a part of an initiative put on by Campbell School of Medicine Department of Community and Global Health to reach underserved areas and areas that do not have access to proper healthcare. This mission trip will serve the towns of Chiquimula and San Jacinto in Guatemala, and will reach people who do not have access to proper healthcare, some of whom have never even been seen by a doctor in their life.
During this trip, I will be accompanied by fellow students and doctors. My role on this mission trip will be to use the skills that I have learned thus far in medical school to take patient histories, perform physical examinations. The results will be presented to the doctor in order to come up with a diagnosis and plan for care. In addition to being an opportunity to serve those who are without proper care, this will also be an outstanding educational experience as I will be participating in and assisting with both diagnosis and treatment of patients.
I have included a link to our school's page showing pictures of the work that was done on the mission trip last year. If it is laid upon your heart, donations of any size will go a long way to making this trip possible. As a medical student, all of my time is dedicated to my studies and the work we do in the community as students of medicine; therefore, outside of my financial aid packet, I do not have a source of income. Being a part of a medical mission trip has been something I have wanted to be a part of for a very long time, and I would be so grateful for any and all support that you could provide in making this a reality.
The cost of the trip is broken down as follows: $1,300 for food, housing, and general trip expenses, and $810 for airfare. Thank you in advance for all of your support and prayers.
