Medical Marathon in One Day

Tax deductible
We just completed a medical marathon! Adopt A Boxer Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization, had four vet bills in one day totaling over $10,000. AABR works hard fundraising all year long and carefully budgets to cover our expenses, even the unexpected ones. But still, a $10,000 day is a hard pill to swallow.

As much as we don’t like to, we are asking you, our amazing supporters, volunteers and donors to help us out. We can’t save them without you. Here are two of our dogs who were a part of that five-figure day.

First up we have Patchie. Patchie is a lovable 8-year-old-girl who lived in a cage on a dirty farm. She was bred every cycle (completely unethical to breed a white boxer) and never had any vet care. When our volunteer rescued her from her life of hell, she had broken & missing teeth, open & infected pressure sores and mammary tumors. But despite all this, she welcomed our volunteer’s gentle hand.

She was taken to the vet to undo 8 long years of neglect and abuse. Patchie’s first night after surgery with her foster mom was rough - she whimpered all night and began bleeding. Back to the vet she went! After a day on IVs and close monitoring she was back in her foster home. Unfortunately, Patchie began to decline and ended up with a five-day stay at the vet. She had to be opened up again and a terrible infection cleaned out. We are still waiting on her cultures but hoping for the best. But we can tell you her nub has started wiggling again. Fingers crossed for this sweet marshmallow.

Then we have adorable Bruno. Our forever foster Bruno suffers from thyroid dwarfism. Thyroid dwarfism is a life altering condition that affects his joints and overall quality of life. This poor boy had his left ACL repaired in the spring due to his condition, and had to have his right ACL done last week. He’s a charming boy that was dumped at a high kill shelter and needs us now more than ever. We are so very lucky to have such a wonderful forever foster family that cares for him and knows his limitations.

Please consider donating so we can continue helping these amazing dogs. Every dollar helps and is so appreciated. We thank you, the dogs thank you.
