Dear Friends and Family,
Many of you have reached out during this very difficult and challenging times and want to support my brother and his family during his fight to survive The COVID-19 infection. Thus, with no monetary goal in mind, I write on his behalf.
After falling ill and following all mandated protocols, his condition rapidly worsened and they had to call for an Uber to drive him accompanied by his wife Marly to an urgent care three blocks away from his apartment. He was already too weak to walk the short distance. He was having difficulty breathing, chest pains and severe coughing.
On Friday, March 28, 2020 my 52-year-old brother was admitted to Forest Hills Long Island Jewish Northwell Hospital. Two days later, after arriving at the hospital his condition suddenly worsened, his oxygen levels dropped, and confirmed positive for the novel virus COVID-19.
On March 31, 2020, the medical staff had given him extra oxygen and it wasn't working. He wasn't breathing well and they made the decision to intubate him. He had 100.1 fever and increasingly difficulty breathing. The doctors have explained that this is not a race it's more like a marathon so he is going to be sedated for some time. It’s going to take longer than a couple of weeks but the ventilation machine is helping him breathe so that the body can rest.
My family including his loving wife Marly and beautiful daughters Kimberly and Emily are living through the most challenging time of their lives. Our beloved brother Jesus continues to fight for his life in the ICU. His Heart is stressed out due to the virus. Daily X-rays show no change due to the advanced Pneumonia. He no longer has a fever. This is a heart-wrenching situation as my brother is experiencing multi organ failure. Due to his kidney functions worsening they have started consecutive days of dialysis showing a gradual improvement.
My brother has the biggest heart and always brings positive energy and laughter to those around him. He loves his girls so much and we cannot wait for him to come home. As you can imagine, the out-of-pocket costs are increasing. It is with a heavy heart that we ask for your support for financial assistance for the mounting medical bills and his dearest family. He has health insurance, but on disability his salary will be stopped. As the main household provider his family needs money to pay for the rent and bills. We’ve created this GoFundMe to support his family during this very difficult time, show them we are here, and spread our love to them.
As he continues to fight very hard and is currently in a very critical state, we all truly believe the thoughts, prayers, and positive energy from everyone is what’s helping him fight and giving him strength. My brother is in the best hands right now and we have faith in his recovery.
