Medical Help for Oaklen Pruitt
Donation protected
Friday afternoon the Pruitt family’s world flipped upside down. Oaklen was admitted to Brenner Children's Hospital part of Wake Forest Baptist due to his blood sugar being over 500. He was soon diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. After being diagnosed, large ketones were found in his urine. His A1C is currently an 11. Oaklen does not have health insurance and they, unfortunately, do not qualify for Medicaid or any other government-assisted insurance programs. They need to supply at least 2 months of diabetes medication as well as a continuous glucose monitor for Oaklen to be able to return to school and live life like a 4-year-old a little bit easier. Oaklen is currently being stuck anywhere from 10-14 times a day. With a continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump, he would not need to be stuck but only a couple of times every 10 days or so. The Pruitt family appreciates any help funding those costs as well as visits to the clinic to see his endocrinologist and all the medical supplies needed while they are having to pay out of pocket. I am raising money to help with these needs until Oaklen is hopefully able to receive health insurance. Anything will help this sweet family, thank you for your time and kindness.
