Cancer Care Saga Continues

I was scheduled to have an appointment February 1, 2023 but because of the ice storm here in NWA I was unable to travel to Houston this week. It has been rescheduled for February 24, 2023.

As I embark on another round of this stupid cancer saga, I realize this is just going to be my life from now on. I am thankful that the type of cancer that I have is a slow growing kind but it can get out of control if not watched carefully. (Peritoneum Cancer) is the type I have. I do have a small tumor that is right back in the same place that it has been before. I will have a consult with Dr. Westin at the Mays Clinic at MD Anderson to decide if we will do surgery and radiation again. It is always frustrating to feel out of control of your own body. I won't say that I'm not scared but maybe just more seasoned in the art of being a cancer warrior. This year will mark 11 years of dealing with this. I just hate that it is back AGAIN!!! I just know that I will continue to fight for myself and my kids.

I am starting this fundraiser to raise funds for copays and travel expenses to be able to go to MD Anderson. This will be a consult and PET/CT Scans to determine a plan of attack on my recurring peritoneum cancer. It has decided to pop up again in the same area as before. This will make surgery a bit more difficult as you can only remove so much from your body before things get complicated. This recurrence will be round 4 for me.

I am very devasted that I will need to go through more treatment again. It certainly takes a toll on your mind, body, and spirit. It is time to get myself ready for whatever the doctors decide is the thing to do and get this under control again.

At the beginning of the year I was waiting for my new health insurance to be active and it is finally available to use. I am hoping to ease some of the financial burden of the many medical bills that have accrued and expenses that lie ahead. I am very thankful to have a good job and the ability to use commercial insurance so I can be seen at MD Anderson. I will keep everyone up to date as things progress and when I have a game plan together to start treatment.
