Medical Fund for "Tank" the Cat

Donation protected
My 80 year old mom, Jan, lives in Paso Robles. Her health has been rapidly declining since August. Last week she came home from the hospital and reluctantly started hospice care. The next day “Tank” the 16 lb. cat showed up in the front yard all love, smiles and purrs. He was obviously fed but I confirmed with neighbors he is a homeless cat. I texted my friend Ananda who does animal rescue a picture of his nose. She sent it to her vet who instantly said “squamous cell carcinoma. Untreatable.” Amanda said “Bring him home and we’ll take care of him.” I went outside and he was gone. It was 19 degrees that night. I told my friend if he showed back up when I was leaving a week later I would bring him back. I never saw him again until...boom! The day I’m leaving there he is in the front yard like he’s waiting for the trip. He stayed there all morning, about 3 hours. So I packed the car and at the last minute I put a towel on the backseat and grabbed him and headed for the car. My brother in law saw me and yelled “You’re not taking that cat!” I yelled back, “Yes I am, he needs help. Don’t tell anyone!” I said this because my dying mother adamantly told me not to get involved. But my heart was aching from her decline and I couldn’t stand to watch this cat suffer too. I felt like I could not save my mother but maybe with the help of others I could save the cat. I sped off before anyone could argue my decision. We drove for 6 hours to get home to Crockett. I fell more in love with him each day, which was only two days before I took him to my vet Dr. Evans. He said he could do a rhinectomy and Tank would have a chance. I knew this meant he would lose half his face but he is all love, his appearance is not of importance, only that he is healthy and happy. I left him with the doctor to move ahead with the surgery and had to leave town to pick up my sister at SFO airport who flew in from Louisiana. We drove together to all be with Mom as she was holding out for her middle daughter to say good-bye. The cat’s surgery went well though Tank had to stay an extra day as he was losing lots of blood from sneezing and very loopy from pain meds. He is still not eating and Amanda is taking care of him as I have to be with mom. The amazing thing is that today my mother is healthier and stronger than she’s been in a month!!! We doubted she would live until Christmas but miraculously today she now seems like she could live another year or longer! I believe in karma, that all the good we do comes back tenfold and more. I felt guided by above to help Tank because I felt powerless to do any more for my mom and she had an amazing rebound toward recovery and life. I don’t know anything except that I feel very blessed and grateful that both of them are going to live. At least a little longer. Precious life. What else matters? It’s a very Merry Christmas so far. And I have not bought a single gift or sent a single card or hung a single ornament. I put the whole vet bill on my credit card. Amanda and my friend Pat have helped so far. If any of you can help even just a little (a lot is great too ;) I will be deeply grateful. Thanks for reading and for sharing if you feel so moved. May you all enjoy each precious moment with your loved ones with and without fur. Follow your heart. The means will come. This is him the day after the surgery. And this video of him before. https://www.facebook.com/allison.vogel.98/posts/10213050776417460
