Medical Fund for Ronald Broach

Donation protected
On Sept. 9, my father, Ronald Broach was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. He is a long-time parts specialist at Advance Auto Parts in Lake City, S.C., and is the sole income for my mother and disabled brother. Initially, his oncologist said he might have six months to a year left. But after one round of chemo, he was too weak to undergo a second, and Hospice was called in. In a matter of weeks, we have watched him waste away to skin and bones, too week to even sit up. It is now expected that he has a little as three months. Even with health insurance, the medical expenses from his initial treatment, the medical expenses will be astronomical. In addition, his sick leave and vacation leave have now been exhausted and we have been informed we will have to pay more than $850 a month to keep his insurance. Our family is not one to ask for help under normal circumstances, but in this awful and painful time, he needs help in his last weeks and months.

This is my dad on the day he was put on Hospice, sitting in the waiting room for the doctor with my mom.

This is my dad after his first return home, reuniting with his dog Katie. This is when he was still strong enough to sit up.
