Medical fund for Michael Havrilla

Hi, my name is Karen. My family and I are starting this fundraiser to try and help out my brother Michael with his Medical Bills. He has had a long journey so far and it is not finished yet. He has been off of work since February 2, 2018. He had to have a total right hip replacement. After the surgery, he ended up suffering nerve damage to his left foot and couldn't go back to work when he expected to in June. While he was off trying to recover from this surgery he ended up with an abscess in his stomach in April. In May he had his first surgery to try and heal the abscess. The doctor placed a wound vac and hoped that would drain out the infection along with a PICC line for antibiotics. This didn't work, so on July 20 he had to have another surgery to open him up and see what they were dealing with. When the doctor went in, he discovered the mesh that he had from previous hernia surgeries was infected and corroded around the small intestine. They ended up removing 8-10 inches of his small intestine. They placed another wound vac and PICC line. On July 31 he had to undergo an emergency surgery due to having a hole in his small intestine. He is currently still in the hospital and not allowed to eat or drink anything because they want to give the small intestine time to heal. They have him on a TPN bag. He may have to undergo another surgery to close the small intestine because it has yet to close on its own. As my brother is going through all of this on August 6, we found out that his job terminated his employment. He just didn't lose his income coming in, he also lost his health insurance. He has been with this company for 10 years and in the same building for 25 years. The job has remained the same just different ownership. His health insurance will end at the end of August.
