Medical for Baby Andrew

On Wednesday, August 8th, 2018 at 8:55am my best friend Stephanie gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Andrew Parker Tahmahkera weighting 6lbs 13oz and 18in long by an emergency C-Section. During her labor she was diagnosed with preeclampsia and her placenta ruptured requiring an emergency C-Section due to Andrews’s heart rate dropping. Throughout her pregnancy there were concerns about him needing a surgery on his heart after birth, but they wouldn’t know until he was born. After Andrews birth they did two Echocardiograms of his heart and things looked well, he wasn’t going to need surgery right away. He was placed in the NICU at Banner Desert Hospital to monitor his heart, oxygen levels and feeding. Things were looking good and they were planning on being discharged on Monday as he was feeding well seemed to be thriving. On Monday morning things changed. Baby Andrew’s heart rate dropped drastically and he was struggling for oxygen. They did another Echo and they found that the Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) had closed and he was not functioning without it open. They sedated him and placed him on a breathing tube and stopped feedings. Last night he was transported to Phoenix Children’s Hospital by air to await surgery. They were informed they did not have any rooms available for Stephanie and Stephen to stay in at this moment. I am making this GoFundMe account for them to assist with the cost of medical bills, food, clothing and the cost of somewhere to stay until a room is found at the hospital for them.
