To know Nestor is to know a human being gentle in spirit, tender in heart, fierce in competition, steadfast in loyalty, serving in nature, kind in disposition. Knowing the immediate challenges that face both Nestor, Kate, and family, our responsibility as friends and colleagues, is to help lighten the load. As a community, we care for our own, helping to ease the burden when it becomes too heavy.
As Nestor continues to prepare for the next phase of treatment, the need to support our friend will increase. Ultimately it is our goal that this community of people can provide some relief for Nestor to be more comfortable and to receive the best treatment possible for him. As friends, hopefully we can provide relief by way of financial, emotional, and spiritual support for Nestor and Kate.
While it often feels like the world stops, the reality is that the obligations don’t. While Kate is constantly by Nestor’s side, hopefully your contribution can allow her to remain 100% focused on Nestor and his care, instead of the obligations that will continue to grow. To be able to give to those in time of need is perhaps the greatest gift that can ever be given. As Nestor would say on the island, “Mahalo my friends.”

Nestor has been diagnosed with gallbladder cancer, stage 3. Surgery to try and remove the cancer led to complications and he ended up having three surgeries and four procedures. He was in the hospital for two months and lost 30 pounds. Now he needs to get his strength back so that he can start chemo and radiation treatments, but right now he is too weak for that.
As you know, Nestor is one of the most wonderful people on the planet, and I am grateful to be his wife. We need to help him recover and get treatments so that he can stay with us as long as possible. Thank you for your help.
