Medical expenses for Remy

Donation protected
Remy Hidalgo, sixteen years old, is a junior at Denham Springs High School. On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, he collapsed on the football field while at practice. He was transported to Our Lady of The Lake Children’s hospital via ambulance. Remy arrived at the hospital in critical condition, with a temperature of 106 degrees and non-responsive of an apparent heatstroke. He was intubated to protect his airway and the medical team began trying to bring his temperature down. CT scans came back normal. However, He had a seizure during the night and continued to decline as his blood pressure at one point dropped to 70/40 and growing concern that some organs may have suffered damage due to him not having produced any urine up to this point. Although, he has been receiving fluids: electrolytes, potassium, as well as plasma.

Wednesday brought a confirmed diagnosis of heatstroke and the decision to attempt to get him stabilized to be able to move him to a hospital in New Orleans. Remy was placed into an induced coma. His mother, at this time, was advised that if he continued to decline that he may not make it through the day.

At approximately 11:30 Wednesday morning, Remy was transported via helicopter to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. There, he will go through Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation treatment. The ECMO machine is a form of life support.
https://www.thoracic.org/patients/patient-resources/resources/what-is-ecmo.pdf                            The ECMO machine pumps and oxygenates a patient’s blood outside of the body, allowing the heart and lungs to rest. The treatment will also allow the medical team to determine if or how much damage other organs may have suffered.

Remy and his family are preparing for a long-term medical event. Remy will require months of therapy and rehabilitation. He and his family are suffering enough. Having financial support for ongoing and future medical care and cost would allow them to focus on Remy and his recovery.

The family is blessed with many friends, teammates, and colleagues asking how you can help. This account was set up to provide an avenue for those offering to help ease the financial burden the family will be facing. Please consider making as generous a gift as you can. I have set the goal of this fundraiser with a large amount simply because it is an ongoing, unknown variable at this time.Thank you in advance. All support is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to provide monetary support, then please support this family by continuing to lift them up in prayer. Claiming in Jesus name a complete and speedy recovery.
